Hey! My name is Nee Lankai Blankson-Mills, I’m from Ghana.
I moved to The Netherlands about three years ago. So, initially when I got here, I was so lost not knowing what to do, everybody speaking Dutch and I was only able to speak English. I didn’t know how I could get back to school, get a job. I was basically lost.
So about that same time, I started getting back into my faith, I tried to get closer to God, who naturally led me to church. In church I met the people who helped me get back on my feet, who showed me how to get around things, get back to school, and get a job. They basically helped me get my life back together.
What they’ve done to me, made me feel what Christianity really is about. People think Christianity is that place where you’re going to be judged and it’s that part of society who judges you for your actions.
All that I’ve been through made me feel the opposite: true Christianity is all about love and that’s what I’ve experienced in the last period, loving one another, you know? It was this sort of faith that pushes forward the agenda of peace and healing.
I was so touched and moved by that, that I’ve decided to share my story on social media through dancing, a talent I’ve been pushing back for a lot of reasons. I hadn’t danced in a very long time, so I started to use my talent to kind of spread the same words.
I just want people to know, that whatever is happening to you, wherever you are; out there is the grace of Christ, his love is available to you and is available to heal you. It’s a whole faith of people of light-mindedness, who just want to spread love, peace, and unity, which is what I’m trying to do as well.
